Aeroacoustics Assessment of an Hybrid Aircraft Configuration with Rear-Mounted Boundary Layer Ingested Engine

نویسندگان

چکیده

Hybrid electric propulsion is a promising solution to reduce aircraft emissions, thus improving the sustainability of air transport. In this work, hybrid configuration with rear-mounted boundary layer ingestion (BLI) engine has been investigated. The partial embedding into fuselage generates distortion ingested inflow causing additional tonal and broadband BLI noise sources, and, at same time, alters existing one, such as rotor–stator interaction (RSI). This work focused on RSI modeling, without generated by BLI, far-field propagation including acoustic masking contribution due engine–fuselage integration. As main result, shows contributions engine–aircraft integration noise. Both effects should be properly taken account in early design stage for an effective reduction even ground level.

Large-eddy simulation of turbulent flow over an array of wall-mounted cubes submerged in an emulated atmospheric boundary-layer

Turbulent flow over an array of wall-mounted cubic obstacles has been numerically investigated using large-eddy simulation. The simulations have been performed using high-performance computations with local cluster systems. The array of cubes are fully submerged in a simulated deep rough-wall atmospheric boundary-layer with high turbulence intensity characteristics of environmental turbulent fl...

A hybrid method for singularly perturbed delay boundary value problems exhibiting a right boundary layer

The aim of this paper is to present a numerical method for singularly perturbed convection-diffusion problems with a delay. The method is a combination of the asymptotic expansion technique and the reproducing kernel method (RKM). First an asymptotic expansion for the solution of the given singularly perturbed delayed boundary value problem is constructed. Then the reduced regular delayed diffe...

Racoro Extended-term Aircraft Observations of Boundary Layer Clouds

S hallow boundary layer clouds are ubiquitous over many parts of the globe and strongly influence Earth’s radiative energy balance (Hartmann et al. 1992). However, our understanding of these clouds is insufficient to solve pressing scientific problems. Cloud feedback represents the largest uncertainty among all climate feedbacks in general circulation models (GCMs), and subtropical boundary lay...

Boundary layer effects on liners for aircraft engines

The performance of acoustic treatments installed on aircraft engines is strongly influenced by the boundary layer of the grazing flow on the surface of the liner. The parametric study presented in this paper illustrates the extent of this effect and identifies when it is significant. The acoustic modes of a circular duct with flow are calculated using a finite sound fields found in current turb...

In-line Oil Debris Monitor for Aircraft Engine Condition Assessment

Dimensional Discrepancies Overrolling of Debris Corrosion Other Fatigue Absrrucr-The development of an in-line, full flow oil debris sensor for aircraft engine condition assessment is described. First used on the F22 fighter, this sensor is the only “ all-metals” debris detector in production. The sensor is based on an inductive measurement technique which enables the system to detect, count an...
